Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Chicken is an easy takeout-style dinner with tender chicken, bell peppers, pineapple, onion, and a tangy sweet sauce. I like this recipe when I want something that feels fun and flavorful, but still has the ease of a slow cooker meal. The sauce gets mixed first, then everything cooks together until the chicken is tender and the vegetables are soft. It is a dependable slow cooker dinner to serve over rice with plenty of sauce on top.

Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Chicken Ingredients and Why They Matter
Chicken breast: Cubed chicken breast cooks in the sauce and makes this a filling dinner.
Cornstarch and apple cider vinegar: These start the sauce and help give it that sweet and sour base.
Garlic, ketchup, soy sauce, and brown sugar: These ingredients build the sauce with savory, tangy, and sweet flavor.
Pineapple chunks and pineapple juice: The pineapple adds sweetness and the reserved juice goes into the sauce.
Red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and yellow onion: These vegetables add color, flavor, and texture.
Cooked white rice: Rice is used for serving and soaks up the extra sauce.

When do you add the pineapple chunks?
I watched the video because I had the same question. It was when she put in the chicken, bell peppers, and onions. When to add: Whisk well and add this sauce into your slow cooker with the chicken, pineapple, bell peppers, and onion stir well.
When did you end up adding them? Ive just put this on and added it with everything else haha
I just put this in the slow cooker and we can’t wait to eat it for dinner!
I just wanted to mention that it doesn’t say when to put the pineapple in. I assume it’s in the crockpot and not just for topping ??
Thanks for your videos. My 5 year old daughter is a huge fan, too hahaha
This was very good. Mine needed 1 tbsp corn starch and 1 tbsp water slurry at the end to thicken sauce but definitely will make again.
When do u add the pineapple chunks?
Hi Julia,
Just wondering if the sauce ever catches on your slow cooker?
Thanks,
Eva
